Cary, NC, July, 22, 2022 – Established in 1980 by Leon Levine (Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Family Dollar Stores, Inc.), The Leon Levine Foundation supports programs and organizations that improve the human condition through investments in education, healthcare, human services and Jewish values.

The Leon Levine Foundation joined Lucy Daniels Center as a foundation partner this month by providing a $60,000 grant to support mental health programs for children ages birth through 12 years old in The Triangle area.

“The Leon Levine Foundation’s commitment to supporting families in being healthy, stable, and cared for is embodied in their partnership with and support for Lucy Daniels Center,” said Emily Odjaghian, Clinical/Executive Director of Lucy Daniels Center. “The child mental health crisis has been laid bare by the COVID-19 pandemic, and with the support of the Leon Levine Foundation, more triangle children and families will receive vital mental health services from the Lucy Daniels Center at this crucial time.”

“The Leon Levine Foundation is proud to support Lucy Daniels Center’s ongoing effective work in providing access to social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health services for children in need and their families.” said Tom Lawrence, president of The Leon Levine Foundation. “We look forward to the continued expansion of Lucy Daniels Center’s high-quality, highly specialized therapeutic services.”

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lucy Daniels Center saw a 111% increase in the number of families seeking mental health services. While that number demonstrates the incredible need in our community, it also shows that families are seeking help and taking the first step towards a life of resilience.

Through this new foundation partnership with TLLF, we can continue to meet this need together to ensure that no child suffers alone and that families have access to the tools they need to thrive. We are grateful to The Leon Levine Foundation for their generosity in supporting the mission of Lucy Daniels Center and the children and families we serve.
