Genna worked as an early childhood educator for many years before receiving her master’s degree in social work from NC State University in 2018. Since 2018, Genna has worked at a community mental health agency as a therapist, providing treatment to children, adolescents, and families and has clinically supervised outpatient therapists and family therapists since 2022. Genna did her social work field placements at Duke Perinatal Clinic supporting people experiencing high risk pregnancies, and at Lincoln Community Health Center, supporting people experiencing homelessness and mental health issues. Genna is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is certified in Family Centered Treatment and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and has training in EMDR. Humor, warmth, compassion, and a commitment to social justice are the foundations of Genna’s practice and she loves supporting children and families in accessing more ease, connection, joy, and play.
