Anita brings to the Lucy Daniels Center a deeply integrative clinical perspective shaped by years of meaningful experience with children, adolescents, and families. Trained in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) as her primary modality, she draws on psychodynamic frameworks, attachment theory, Circle of Security, and parts-based approaches to meet each child and family where they are. She is particularly interested in the ways early relational experiences shape emotional development, and she brings genuine curiosity and warmth to her work with both children and the caregivers who love them.
Anita believes that the therapeutic relationship itself is a powerful vehicle for growth. In her clinical work, she creates a calm and grounded environment where children can express themselves through play and where parents feel seen, supported, and increasingly confident in their own relational attunement. Her approach is informed by somatic awareness and a commitment to meeting the whole person and not just the presenting concern.
Anita earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently practicing as an LCSW-A. Prior to her clinical training, she built a career as a legal scholar and later became a certified yoga and meditation teacher (RYT-200). She recently completed a registered child yoga teacher training (RCYT certification). These previous experiences continue to inform Anita’s embodied, reflective approach to care.
