Josie Sawyer has been named the new Executive & Clinical Director of Lucy Daniels Center.  After an extensive nationwide search, the Board of Directors selected Sawyer, who has been with Lucy Daniels Center as a clinician with the Farley-Manning Family Guidance Service (FGS) since 2015, to become the organization’s second Executive & Clinical Director. Don Rosenblitt will be retiring from the position after nearly 30 years at the helm. Sawyer will start in her new position on August 1.

“I am thrilled that the Board of Directors has selected me to guide the important work of promoting emotional well-being in the children and families we serve,” said Sawyer. “I am honored and excited to lead each of the programs at the Lucy Daniels Center, which began under the leadership of founder Dr. Rosenblitt, including the Lucy Daniels School, Farley-Manning Family Guidance Center, Secure Path and the emerging LDC 4 Early Success programs.”

“Josie’s strong clinical background and commitment to the mission of the Lucy Daniels Center make her the ideal candidate to lead the Lucy Daniels Center moving forward,” stated Board Chair, Toni Peck. “We are confident in her ability to continue Don’s legacy of therapeutic education with onsite wrap-around clinical services that are grounded in psychoanalytic clinical approaches. These approaches are what make this organization a unique and important place in our community.”

A graduate of Furman University, Ms. Sawyer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has her Masters in Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill. In addition to her years of service as a mental health clinician at Lucy Daniels Center, Ms. Sawyer has a background in providing in-home mental health services to children and families, and more recently, has furthered her psychoanalytic training with the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas.
