Donald Rosenblitt, M.D.

Donald Rosenblitt, M.D.

Clinical and Executive Director

Dr. Rosenblitt is a child psychiatrist and psychoanalyst and is the founding and current clinical and executive director of the Lucy Daniels Center. He completed his medical training and residencies in adult and child psychiatry at Duke University School of Medicine, and is a graduate and former director of the UNC-Duke Psychoanalytic Education Program, currently called the Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas. He is a national leader in a number of organizations concerned with the mental health of children. Dr. Rosenblitt has published and presented locally and nationally on topics related to child development and early intervention.

Debbie has over 22 years experience in the fields of early childhood and early intervention. She holds a B. S. in special education from the University of Maryland, and both an M. S. in education/reading and an Ed. D. in special education/leadership from Johns Hopkins University. She spent many years as an early intervention specialist and administrator in Maryland, has taught early childhood classes at several community colleges in North Carolina as well as at Meredith College, has an extensive background in early intervention research, and speaks frequently at both state and national early childhood conferences. Debbie was the Education Director at the Lucy Daniels Center from 1996 through 2003.

Susan Eder, M.D

Associate Director and Parent Therapist, Early Intervention Program

Dr. Eder is the Center's associate director and a parent therapist in the Early Intervention Program. She completed her training in adult, adolescent, and child psychiatry at the Payne-Whitney Clinic of the New York Hospital and was an assistant professor of child psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Dr. Eder is a parent therapist and member of the EIP therapeutic team since 1998

Mrs. King joined the staff of the Lucy Daniels Center in February 2007. She has more than 25 years of experience in development, marketing, and communications in the university, for-profit, and non-profit arenas. Her B.A. degree from NC State University is in product design/visual design and she has an MBA degree, also from NC State. She earned the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential in 2007. Joyce is also a professional artist. Prior to joining the Lucy Daniels Center staff she was director of development and communications for Habitat for Humanity of Wake County.

Mrs. Glen is the Center's office manager. She has more than 30 years of office administration experience and has been at the Center since July 1995.

Administrator, Family Guidance Service

Mrs. Means is the Family Guidance Service administrator and has been with the Center since 2007. Sienna has more than 10 years of office administration, insurance billing, and Spanish interpretation experience.

Mrs. Crane has been the bookkeeper for the Center since 1994. She has 20+ years experience in her field.

Wendy Tomblin

Mrs. Tomblin is the assistant to the executive and education directors of the Lucy Daniels Center. She has more than 15 years experience in non-profit organization and childcare management.

Mrs. Wilt is has been the development assistant since February 2007. Prior to that she was administrative assistant to the Family Guidance Service (FGS) at Lucy Daniels. Patti has more than 16 years of healthcare and administrative experience.

Parent Therapist and Admissions Officer, Early Intervention Program; and Consultant, Child Enrichment Program

Dr. Snider is a child psychiatrist. She is in continued training in psychoanalysis through the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Snider is a parent therapist, Early Intervention Program admissions officer, and Child Enrichment Program consultant, and has been fulfilling these roles at the Center since 2000.

Mrs. Kelly joined our staff in the fall of 2006. Mrs. Kelly prior work experience was in the public relations field and as a long-time volunteer with children in elementary, middle, and high schools in the Wake County Public School System.

Ms. Miller joined the Lucy Daniels Center staff in 2007. She received a B.S. degree in human development and learning from East Tennessee State University. She has 12 years of teaching experience with children ages 3-5.

Mrs. Spainhower joined the Lucy Daniels Center staff in 2010. She received a B.S. degree in child and adolescent studies and an M.S. degree in special education, both from California State University at Fullerton. Mrs. Spainhower has 10 years of experience working with children from birth through elementary school age.

Parent Therapist, Early Intervention Program

Dr. Fuller is a child psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, serving as a parent therapist and a member of the therapeutic team. He completed his training in adult and child psychiatry at Duke University and in adult and child psychoanalysis at the Duke-UNC Psychoanalytic Education Program (now Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas). Dr. Fuller has been a parent therapist and member of the Early Intervention Program therapeutic team since 1995.

Danielle Marandino

Ms. Marandino joined the staff in 2010 as a teacher in the kindergarten Early Intervention Program. Danielle received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Long Island University and has several years of experience working in both mental health and educational settings.  Her previous experience includes working with at-risk youth in a high school classroom, serving as counselor and program manager in a residential program, and teaching child development skills with infant-toddlers, also in a classroom setting.

Ms. Moore joined our staff in 2010 as a teacher in the preschool Early Intervention Program. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in family studies from Arizona State University.  Ms. Moore has had experience working in early childhood education since 2006. 

Jennifer Murphy

Ms. Murphy joined our staff in August 2007. She received her bachelor's degree in social work from Frostburg State University in Maryland and had seven years of experience in mental health and early childhood development positions. Ms. Murphy currently teaches in the preschool Early Intervention Program classroom.

Mrs. Reid joined our staff in 2005. She has an M.A. degree in early childhood and elementary education from NYU and an early childhood teacher credential from the American Montessori Society. Prior to joining the Center, Ms. Reid taught children ages 3-6, beginning in 2001. Currently, Ms. Reid teaches in the preschool Early Intervention Program classroom and has earned the professional credential of Certified Psychoanalytic Educator (CPE).

Dr. Rosenblitt is a parent therapist and has been a member of the Early Intervention Program therapeutic team since 2006. She received her training in adult and child psychiatry at Duke University and her analytic training through the Duke-UNC Psychoanalytic Education Program (now Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas), where she is currently on the faculty. Dr. Rosenblitt has a private practice of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy in Durham.

Mental Health Clinician

Adam Berkowitz joined the staff of the Family Guidance Service in January 2010.  He earned his Master of Social Work from Fordham University and has post-graduate training in psychoanalysis from the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR).  Mr. Berkowitz has worked with children, adolescents, adults and families in foster care, family court, school and community mental health settings, as well as in private practice.

Elissa Baldwin joined the Family Guidance Service staff In October 2007. She is a graduate of NCSU and earned an M.S.W. from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work.  Ms. Baldwin brings with her psychodynamic training and previous experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a community mental health setting.  She is currently a doctoral candidate at the Smith College School for Social Work, and a lecturer in the M.S.W. program at Smith.

Dr. Ballew is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and received her Ph.D. at the University of Tennessee. She joined the staff of the Family Guidance Service in 2007. She also had four years of experience in community mental healthcare for children in Tennessee.

Mental Health Clinician

Lucy joined the staff in November 2009.  She has advanced training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy in addition to her training as a social worker.  She graduated from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts with a degree in adolescent psychology and later earned her masters degree from Smith College School for Social Work.  Ms. Fox has also completed a number of certificate programs with the Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas.  She was first trained in non-directive play therapy at the Dallas Child Guidance Center in 1996 and has been grateful to work primarily with children ever since.

Mental Health Clinician 

Ms. Greco joined the staff of the Family Guidance Service in March 2005. She is a graduate of the Smith College School for Clinical Social Work. Ms. Greco brings with her psychodynamic training, supervisory experience, and several years of clinical experience with children, adolescents, and families. Before coming to Lucy Daniels Center, Ms. Greco most recently worked at the UNC School of Medicine treating maternal substance abuse.

Mental Health Clinician

Ms. McCormick graduated from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work. She joined the staff of the Family Guidance Service in April 2004. Previously, she worked with children and parents at the Dorothea Dix Child Outpatient Clinic, as well as working with adults on an inpatient psychiatric unit and juvenile offenders through a community agency.

Mental Health Clinician

Dr. Miller is a graduate of Drexel University. She earned a masters degree in counseling at Villanova University and a doctorate at Albizu University. She joined the staff of the Family Guidance Service in 2007. Dr. Miller has extensive experience working with children and adolescents. Her previous employment at All Kinds of Minds has provided her specialization in testing for learning differences from a neurodevelopmental framework.

Mental Health Clinician

Anna Quarles joined the staff of the Family Guidance Services in March 2010.She is a graduate of Bucknell University with a double major in Psychology and Spanish, and later earned dual masters degrees in Social Work and Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh.  For the past two years she worked with adolescents and their families at Central Regional Hospital's inpatient Child and Adolescent Unit.  Mrs. Quarles has also worked with adults on an inpatient psychiatric unit, and is currently completing coursework through the Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas.

Alison is a graduate of the University of Georgia.  She received a master's degree in clinical social work from UNC-Chapel Hill and completed a clinical fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center.  She joined the staff of SecurePath in November 2009 as a therapist.  Her previous experience includes working with children and families in schools, outpatient clinics and in a residential program.

Ms. Soule graduated from the UNC Chapel Hill School of Social Work. She joined the staff of SecurePath in May 2006 as a bilingual therapist. Previously she worked with children at risk of removal from their homes and their families, as well as adolescent substance abusers in an inpatient setting.

Sarah Stevens is a graduate of Guilford College. She joined the staff of SecurePath in 2004 as a bilingual therapist. She received a master's degree in clinical social work from UNC-Chapel Hill. Ms. Stevens has experience working with international women at a domestic violence center in Atlanta. As a bilingual therapist, she previously worked with children, adolescents and their families in Wake County at the Institute for Family-Centered Services.
